EXCEL AT ESSAY WRITING

Invest in Your Career!
Your Success Is Up to You!

TIP 12: To EXCEL Take Practice Exams

  • Practice does make perfect.
  • Answer the question asked.
  • Use the Short Outline to spot issues.
  • Write to educate an uninformed reader.
  • Apply the relevant law and policy as it will be argued by the parties.
  • Apply the law to the facts by fully stating each principle of law while you are applying the law to the facts. The same is true when applying policy.
  • Write for points. The more law and policy you apply, the more points will get.
  • Meet with your professors to get feedback on your essays.

We believe all motivated law students can excel in law school if they 1) understand how to prepare properly, 2) understand the standards applied to their work, and 3) understand how to meet those standards.

All law students can benefit by taking The Basic Exam Course™. The course includes three classes, 1) How to Excel in Law School, 2) How to Outline Law School Courses, and 3) Exam Writing and Legal Analysis. Class 3 gives students a roadmap for spotting issues and writing excellent essays. The online course is available 24/7 via video streaming. Students who register for the course by October 31 can get a $100 discount by entering the promotional code ABWA.

Great grades in law school translate into bar success, terrific job opportunities, and empowerment. Skillman lawyers have gone on to become top lawyers, tenured law professors, judges, Appellate Court Justices, and public advocates.
