There is an art to taking multiple-choice exams successfully. When Professor Skillman was in her last semester of law school at the University of California at Berkeley Law School, she had the good fortune to sit in on an one-hour course offered by Michael Josephson, Esq. At that time, Professor Josephson had his own bar preparation course.

Professor Josephson’s lecture entirely changed Professor Skillman’s understanding about the processes to use to do well on multiple-choice examinations. Professor Skillman has further clarified the processes for her students.

During the class, Professor Skillman and the students “walk through” several MBE questions. Bar candidates learn how to successfully answer MBE questions by using a linear approach. Professor Skillman teaches students a structured approach for responding to any Negligence question. The approach is helpful to bar candidates and law students alike. The practice questions were published by PMBR.

To successfully respond to MBE questions or multiple-choice questions, it is important to have developed and memorized The Short Outline for the particular subject. Further, if a bar candidate prepares a long outline for the course, she/he has the foundation for responding to MBE questions for maximum success. (Law students should also develop his/her own long outlines for each course, if he/she wants to excel.)
