SKILLMAN LAWYER’S QUOTE
“I received the only A+ in my Torts class last Fall. Thank you! At the end of my 1st year, I automatically qualified for the law journal.”
Professor Skillman’s created The Advanced Exam Writing Course™ to help students perfect their essay writing skills. To EXCEL, a student must not only know the law, but understand how to meet the needs of the “uninformed reader”.
To EXCEL, a student must understand how to rack up points by identifying the relevant issues and succinctly applying the relevant law and policies. When a Skillman student completes the course, he/she should be able to judge whether or not his/her work meets the standards. The same strategies for success can be applied on law school and bar exams.
The Advanced Course meets three times for two hours per class. During class, ten students’ essays are critiqued line-by-line applying the theories laid out in Class 3 of The Basic Exam Course™.* Each student meets privately with faculty twice for an hour to critique his/her essays. We call the one-on-one meetings Private Instruction, rather than tutoring.
Included with The Advanced Course™
- Six hours of class instruction
- Two hours of Private Instruction (tutoring) with faculty
- Further, each student may submit ten papers for line-by-line critique, including two long outlines and eight essays
- Students also learn strategies for answering multiple-choice questions successfully
Classes meet via teleconference and internet. Classes are scheduled for the convenience of the students.
* The Basic Exam Course™ for law students is a prerequisite for taking the Advanced Course™.
YET ANOTHER SUCCESS STORY
A dean recommended that five students who had been placed on probation after their first year take The Skillman Method™ courses. Those students took The Basic Exam Course™ for law students and The Advanced Exam Writing Course™. All five students passed the bar exam. Four passed on the first try!
